Recommendations for Places To Eat & Drink
There is a Serenity Now guide notebook on the counter at the house with a restaurant section in it for you but I'll give you a heads up on some of my favorites! Also if you have a chance do a search for Pensacola & Orange Beach restaurants before you go on your trip. The restaurants are very low key, you definitely do not have to dress up!
***DO NOT GO TO PEDROS FOR MEXICAN FOOD. WE HEARD ITS VERY BAD. ALSO, CRAB TRAP NOT GREAT!
THE CLOSEST TO THE SERENITY NOW
HUB STACYS AT THE POINT
Just down the street on Innerarity Point Road on Galvez Street (5 min. from Serenity Now) A little hard to see where it is and where you turn. They have a new sign at the corner of Galvez and Innerarity but it only faces one direction so if you are going form the house, all you see is the back of a square sign! LOL
Cute little dive bar with a delicious Reuben sandwich. My favorite Reuben anywhere. Cold beer and even good Cosmo martinis. They have good live music too! We really like it there. They have music many nights and it is a fun place to hang out! Ask the waiter for a marker so you can put your names and date on a dollar bill and hang it on their walls.
THE ORIGINAL POINT RESTAURANThttp://point-restaurant.com/
Great Burger but also supposed to have very good seafood. I'm unfortunately allergic so I can tell you about the
seafood! Very friendly staff and has live music every night. They also have an outdoor courtyard. The Point is the ONLY late night hotspot with live bands and a full bar nestled under ancient oak trees. The Courtyard is complete with several personal fireplaces, gathering style seating, picnic tables, and of course the Stage.
FISHERMANS CORNER (just under the bridge)
Also close by. You will see a lot of mixed reviews for this place. Food is good but they need to clean their seat cushions in the booths! They do have an appetizer I got for my main dinner which was the eggplant parmesan. Parmesan encrusted eggplant topped with provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, and crabmeat smothered in homemade marinara sauce for $9. It was huge and really really good! Seriously, I cleaned my plate! They also have a shrimp appetizer plate that we thought was also very good. They say they have the best burger anywhere, but I am from Chicago where we really have good burgers! It’s still a decent burger. The first time we went there I ordered one of their specials..It was with pasta and chicken. Had to return it because it was so overly salted. One thing that is delish their is the little rolls they bring out. They only bring 2 at a time, so we kept asking for more. They are really good! If I remember right also, they only serve Beer and Wine. No regular drinks.
THE SPORTS BAR
Also very close. Very good large & crispy chicken wings. The honey mustard wings are great! Very cold beer here.
Butch’s Bistro & BBQ 13118 Sorrento Rd, Pensacola
(I have not tried this yet but it sounds good!)
Here is a review from yelp:
This is, absolutely- without fail, a must eat! I found this on Yelp and was not disappointed. We always search for locally owned places to eat. This place is definitely a "hole-in-the-wall" but do not let appearances fool you. The flavor was out of this world. BBQ, ribs, wings, and burgers all had incredible flavor. Everything is scratch made and so good. The prices are unbelievably reasonable, give a beach town, and the service was over the top. We will definitely be coming back to this place when in town.
ON OR OFF BEACH BLVD (THE MAIN ROAD THAT RUNS ALONG THE GULF) *in Orange Beach
THE GULF (Go here on a beautiful day and sit outside by the water on comfy sofa's!)
It's actually in Orange Beach but not far. It's all outdoor and has comfy little outdoor sofa sections all over the beach area so you can drink or eat while enjoying the weather. The food there is nothing too exciting but what makes it great is the comfort and the view. If you want to eat, I would recommend their grouper sandwich with their hand cut fries and they are great! Tried the Burger which is nothing special. definitely go and have a drink and enjoy the view!!!
Big Wave Dave’s Kitchen & Beach Bar (NEW)
Have not tried yet!
reviews look good!
his place is new and is going to be one of the hottest spots on the strip!
Glad we came before it gets crazy popular because we had zero wait.
The decor is adorable - think rustic beach plus surf club.
The servers are very good with families - extra napkins, fast with refills, popcorn brought out right away. This place is very kid friendly, especially little kids.
The food was great! Hubby had chicken sandwich and loved it. I had the basic hot lobster roll - love.
The three kids - 5, 3 and 1 - split the chicken and shrimp kids meals. It was served in v-dub buses! The kids loved it so much and it was a pleasant change from frisbees which my kids want to flip their food over and play with immediately! They actually are their food bc they loved eating out of the van.
The fries were AMAZING. They are seasoned with a Cajun-type rub, but did I also taste cinnamon? It's not overpowering either.
They are still having a few growing pains - mahi-mahi not grouper on menu and there's a special on the menu that they don't have yet. But if they get some local and regional craft brews on tap (maybe do some flights) - this place will be tough to bet.
Love that we get to say "we knew this place before it was cool." #hipsterwannabe
THE SUNSET GRILLE
Go to see the sunset and have a drink and a sandwich to see the sunset! Beautiful spot to see the sun go down! Food is average!
THE FLORA BAMA
This is the hot spot to go with several bars, all kinds of music and food. Age 20's to 40's!
packed in the spring and summer months!
COBALT In Orange Beach
Very pretty place and beautiful outside area along the water. ! A bit more expensive but the outdoor seating and views are great. The food there is VERY Good. Pecan fried Catfish on the bed of succotash is so delish. May not sound good but trust me, So good. $21 They also have a $10 shrimp appetizer called "firecracker shrimp" & great cheese hand tossed pizza for $5 DELISH! Go for the early bird special from 3 pm to 5 pm and music that starts at 5 pm.. Great deals on food and drinks!
LILLIAN’S PIZZA In Perdido Key
The pizza’s are good, but not as good as pizza here in Chicago in my opinion. It is New York style. The kind that the crusts are buttery and floppy in giant triangle slices.
Islander Food Shack In Perdido Key
Now you can get chicken schwarma's or chicken skewers, tasty hamburgers and great lamb sliders. It's a very interesting menu, not overly complex, but just right.
I like the staff, they are professional and are quick to give advice. But, I really like the food. There is nothing fancy, just tasty and yes I would change somethings, but this is a good roadside eclectic restaurant. Also, for an added bonus for dessert Dave's Snowballs is right next door. :)
COSMO’S RESTAURANT & BAR In Orange Beach
Same owners as "Cobalt". Very good and a cute place! Get the Fire Cracker Shrimp appetizer. Enough for a whole meal but everything is very good!
GT'S ON THE BAY $$ In Orange Beach
Used to be The Cayman Grill. Same owners as Cobalts and Cosmos. Nice menu, great outdoor area! We tried the Chicken Carbonara and the hearth pizza. Bother were very good!!!
Taqueria El Asador 7955N Davis Hwy Pensacola, FL 32514
Never ate there but sounds like they know what they are doing if you want authentic Mexican food. Read the reviews!!
NICKS BOATHOUSE In Pensacola next to Baseball Stadium
Over by the baseball stadium. Nicks has half price appetizers. Not a bad place! #7 THE JELLYFISH http://www.thejellyfishbar.com/
Nice place. I had the meatloaf sandwich which was good. I wasnt in mood for a huge dinner but Moe’s dinner was great. He had the Pecan Grouper $21 and worth every penny.
MOE’S ORIGINAL BAR B QUE In Orange Beach
We had to try this being the same name as my husband (Moe) Very cute place and the food was good.
VEGAN/VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY In downtown Pensacola
Not sure you will find any Vegan in the near area around the Serenity Now but there are places in downtown Pensacola about 1/2 hour away. You will probably enjoy seeing downtown Pensacola and while there try some of these places.I have not eaten at any of them but please check this link for a list of Vegan and Vegan-Friendly restaurants:
